Journal entry from 3/12/12

Pixie lost 40 grams today.  The increased her feeds to 3 ml over an hour every 3 hours.  They also increased her time on oxygen to 3 hours 2 times a day.  She is doing so well.  She enjoyed our snuggle time today.  She is doing a great time keeping her oxygen saturation up today.  She also did a good job breathing at a good rate.  She looks better and better every day.  I could just sit and watch her all day!  I love her so much!

Today was a good day for Pixie.  She did 3 hours on oxygen and did awesome!  We got to snuggle again today.  She gave the two thumbs up when the nurses put her back in her bed.  Her nurses are so nice.  I cried today when it was time to go home even though I know she is in the best place.

A letter from Na Na Pete

Pixie Na Na's little Tinker bell your hands are so small, your arms are so big.  With every move you make Na Na finds something new to love.  You're so so tiny.  It amazes me how someone so tiny can fill my heart with so much love.  Some day Miss Pixie you and Na Na will have girly girl dates to have our hair done our toes painted.  I can't wait to get to know you, watch your personality grow and then I will be amazed by what a women you have become.  Oh and lets start now Pixie who loves you..... I am feeling a little better.  My blood pressure is much better and the head ache too.  She is such a strong girl we are so proud of the progress she is making.  I got to help the nurses get her all tucked in for bed tonight.  She lost a little weight and got to spent 3 hours on oxygen today.

Journal entry from 3/9/12

Today was a rough day for me but a great day for Pixie.  My blood pressure spiked to 227/100. I had to stay in bed for most of the day because of a headache.  Pixie had her first brain scan (ultrasound) today.  Everything came back normal :)  We got to have snuggle time today.  I got to hold her for an hour.  She loved it.  She was so relaxed when the nurses put her back in her bed that she stretched out.  They had to decrease her feeds to 1 ml over an hour every 3 hours.  She also spent 1 hour on oxygen today.  I also got to change her diaper for the first time today!

Today they took Pixie off the vent again.  She did and is doing great.  She is tolerating the CPAP well.  The fed her some mama milk today.  They are feeding her at a rate of 3ml over an hour every 3 hours.  Nana Pete got to touch her for the first time today.  Uncle Jay, Erin, and Gabe came to see her today.  Uncle Jay and Erin brought her some outfits.  Michelle made a picture frame with her name on it and put a really cute picture of her in it.  Miss. Jen sent her a cute outfit and an animal.  Miss. Amy  my boss brought her a little dog that I put in her bed with her.  I love her so much!!  Tomorrow she will have her first brain scan (ultrasound).  If everything goes well and the results are good I will get to hold her for the first time!

Pixie is still on the vent but doing well.  Kathleen the social worker stopped by and gave us all of the information for SSI.  She had her Pic line put in today.  They also gave her more antibiotics and vitamins (tpn and lipids).  Big brothers  came to meet her today.  They were so happy to meet her.  The Dr.'s said that they will hopefully be able to start giving her mommy milk tomorrow.  When we went to see her tonight she started fussing and it made me cry.  The nurses showed me how to cradle her to help her calm down.  It worked!!!  Nana Pete Aunt Aunt Amanda Aunt Lisa Nana Lynda and Papa Dave came to see her today.
